My Christmas baking list was altered somewhat because I just couldn’t get it all done with the small diversions I subjected myself to. This is what I had intended on baking:
Here is this 2012′s round up:
- Ma’amouls (a middle eastern stuffed cookie) √
- Chewy Peanut Butter Bars √
- Anzac Biscuits X
- Butterscotchy Almond Bars √
- Lemon Coconut Squares √
- Cherry Squares (still to be made for Christmas Eve)
- Mexican Spiced Macaroons X
- Ginger Snaps X
- Nanaimo Truffles (a twist on an old Canadian favourite)√
- “Home Made” rolled sugar cookies √
- Fruit Paste truffles √
- Ma’amouls change up √
Here’s what actually went down:

If I could only be the recipient of one of your cookie plates in reality I’d be a happy camper … a chubbier camper … but definitely happy.
Thanks so much Maria. If Canada post wasn’t so darn expensive, I’d send you one!
There are so many things I wanted to make and post too. I had to leave onion marmalade off the list as am only able to make that this morning (Boxing Day) and I planned a Bouche de Noel as well. Never mind. There’s always next year. I hope your Christmas was good. Ours was lovely but the weather was a huge letdown. So cold and wet. It didn’t stop pouring all day and there was plenty of thunder as well. I don’t think I’ve ever had a Sydney Christmas like it xx
Hi Charlie, too bad about your weather, we had a gorgeous dusting if snow Christmas Day morning which was perfect! Tonight we’re expecting a huge storm up from the states; I just hope it hits is after we arrive at our destination.
fortunately dinner wasn’t at our place. JT and I stayed in and ate leftovers, we had intended on eating a seafood extravaganza, but we were still stuffed from have cocktails and snacks at Barb’s place. Christmas Day we had lunch with John’s family which was nice. I’ll recreate Christmas dinner for my family in January when everyone is flu free.
Christmas was a bit of a bust, my nephew got the stomach flu early Christmas Eve morning and later that day his sister got it, Christmas Eve was cancelled
Looks like everything turned out just fine to me. Hope you’ve had a great holiday.
Thanks Greg, it almost did! .

Christmas Day we had a traditional turkey lunch with John’s family which was nice. I’ll recreate Christmas dinner for my family in January when everyone is flu free with tree, turkey and all!

You are too much, Eva. I seriously doubt anyone missed the Anzac Biscuits, for example. I’d be thrilled to receive one of your cookie plates, as I’m sure all of the recipients were. They look beautiful and I bet all of the treats tasted even better.
Thank you kindly John. Everyone was thrilled when I handed out the plates on Christmas Day. I still have some of the treats in the freezer!
Eva, everything looks great. I couldn’t finish everything I wanted to do either. The time went by too fast. I hope you enjoyed your holiday!
Thank Judy, it was a challenge because of the tempting recipes on these wonderful blogs, I just couldn’t stop.
That’s still a darn impressive list Eva! I hope you had a fabulous Christmas and are enjoying some R&R!
Thanks Kristy. Christmas Eve celebrations were postponed this year as my brother’s two kids came down with a stomach flu. I’m doing a Christmas dinner for them in January.
What a great list of holiday treats! I’ll be checking out each of them! Yum! I didn’t get to much holiday baking this year. Usually dad and I make a few cookies, but between exams and working on weekends, we never got around to it this year.
Thanks Amber, I always say I’m going to cut down the volumes but I never do. At least this year I didn’t make more (I still have some in the freezer for distribution).
Very beautifully done Eva! You are a pro.
Thank you kindly Zsuzsa.
