I have a confession to make: I’m in love and it’s not JT. It’s really not as bad as it sounds, my love affair is with a certain Indian. OK. I’ll ‘fess up, it’s Naan. There. I’m in love with Naan. The bread, silly! I’m embarrassed to admit how many times I’ve made this recipe but suffice it to say it’s double digits! About the same time that Maria over at a-boleyn live journal made our delicious naan recipe into a gorgeous pizza, I had the same idea (yes, I blog well in advance!). So on the day the world should have ended (again) I made a naan pizza for dinner. What a way to go!
It’s basically whatever you have in the fridge, our ingredients were goats cheese infused with garlic and EVOO, torn prosciutto, sun-dried tomatoes in EVOO and chopped spinach topped with shaved parmesan cheese. What more can you want?
Why Naan? I usually like my pizza crust super thin and crispy, what the naan brought to the table (pardon the pun) is a bit more bite and a lot of chewiness. Delicious chewy goodness. Need. I. Say. More. ?.


I’m glad everything is okay between you and JT and there is no ‘third’ in your relationship. Is it really ‘Maria’ from A Bolyen blog? I was sure it was Anne! But I might have her confused with a wife of Henry’s. I love naan too and this is a great mid-week recipe xx

Naan is a great third in any couple … carb love is ‘mostly’ harmless.

Do you make extra naan and freeze them for a super quick-fix pizza, or naan does not freeze well?
This would be a great idea with pita bread I think.
Pita is also a great idea as a base; I’ve often used fajita shells as well, but they are super thin and will cook up a lot crispier than the naan which gives you a much chewier crust.
I’ve not frozen the naan before but I have suspended the rise in the fridge overnight and it was successful so I would suspect freezing the dough would be OK too.
I just wanted to add something here…you can freeze Naan. Simply butter them and heat them up for 2 minutes in pre-heated oven of 400 degree F. You can skip the butter if you want, but I find them soft with butter on.

Another great recipe Eva. For this one I have to give you extra points for creativity. I never thought of making a pizza out of naan bread. That’s pretty awesome.
If there’s one food that I really love to make is pizza. Starting with the dough and the stretching, choosing the toppings. It’s by far my favorite dish to cook.
For my blog, I will make a video, and I will cook several types of pizzas. From classic Italian-style pizzas, New York pizzas to the famous Chicago-Style deep dish pizza. Make sure you come and see it when it’s done. It will take me a bit, because I want to make sure it’s perfect.

A great idea! I like to use tortilla to make pizza, next time I am going to try with naan.
I like the tortillas as well Angie because it is a nice light crust, but the naan adds a certain chewiness to it that is wonderful.
I am not surprised you have fallen in love. I did too and I haven’t even tasted or smelled your naans! (I think I even dream of them!). This naan pizza looks lovely and moreover it’s actually a light pizza if I’m not wrong! I see that telepathy works between you and A_Boleyn too!

Oh, brilliant use of naan! (I have many love affairs going on simultaneously…with food too! heehee). Your toppings sound outrageously delicious Eva – prosciutto… parm… sundried tomatoes… some of my favourites! It’s a good thing I don’t live around the corner; there’s no way I could stop at one of these puppies… dangerous food for me… but crazy yummy for sure.

I love the fresh herby notes on your pizza with the raw spinach on top. And the shards of salty parmesan shavings.

Yum! I would love to try some Indian flavours on a naan pizza. Like curry prawns with mango chutney. I always use wheat tortillas as pizza base too is we love the crisp texture and high topping to base ratio.
