Happy Birthday Canada, we turn a whopping 145 today. I guess I shouldn’t complain about my age, then ;-)!
It’s a long weekend and you may wonder what some Canadians do on the birth of their wonderful country, we head state-side! We dropped into John, Bill and Kristy’s lovely state for about an hour and then we headed over to Delavan, Wisconsin to Paul and T’s new Lake House. We haven’t been so we are really excited!
This morning we took a nice long walk along their road; well it wasn’t intended on being long, we just happened to walk past their place and we noticed 15 minutes later! Believe it or not, we hadn’t even had a cocktail yet!
This is Maggie, Paul’s daughter Niki’s dog. I thought she looked like a similar breed to John’s dog, Max!
What? You mean you didn’t stay in our fabulous, vast country to celebrate?!! Hee.hee… Sounds like you had a wonderful trip Eva (those are some ‘lake houses’ and quite the view too… gorgeous!). We set off fireworks for you in ON! :).

I know, terribly unpatriotic of me. But we took our Canadian flag down as a gift so we had it up on Canada Day. It so happened that the town had fireworks on Saturday night so it was close enough to Canada Day that we all celebrated. Rest assured there were many a glass clinking to celebrate our great country and holiday. Our friends Paul and T like to refer to themselves as partly Canadian because they love this country (and us) so much!
I’ve always been too afraid to do fireworks at home, the most we do are the sparklers. I bet your boys loved it.
Yes, the lake houses down there are more like mansions, reminiscent of the Muskokas.

What a great view of the lake. We head up to Wisconsin about every other summer for a week of fishing, boating and relaxation. A cool lake breeze sounds quite enticing right now after another scorcher 🙂 Safe travels home~

I read somewhere that there are 15,000 lakes in Wisconsin, Liz. It was indeed lovely to enjoy the heat where you are in close proximity to a lake.

Thanks Betsy, the houses are quite impressive down there. I just realized I never snapped a pic if Paul and Ts place. I’ll have to check JTs phone to see if he got any!

How cool! My mom was in Delavan this past weekend! We used to vacation there every now and then as a kid and my grandparents would spend lots of time there every summer with their friends. Small world. 🙂 I hope you’re having a wonderful time in our home state. It’s certainly a hot week!!!

Thanks Kristy! It’s gorgeous, and the weather has been unbelievably hot, but I’m not complaining. Today is threatening rain, but they sure need it. Hope it doesn’t mess up our traveling day.

What a beautiful place to spend a weekend. Colour me jealous! I think I’d sit on the bank splash my feet in the water all weekend sipping something cold!

Thanks Smidge. Even though our hosts home wasn’t quite as grand as the neighbours, it was grander than most cottages in Ontario! It is a lovely place to celebrate.

That first house is gorgeous. What a beautiful part of the world. Happy Canada day. In Canberra (our capital) they flew the Canadian flag over the weekend – all the way over here, we’re celebrating with you (but without the holiday!) xx

Thanks Charlie, how wonderful that they did that for us. I didn’t know Canadians were so endeared in Australia. It makes me happy.

Such a great spot to spend the holidays! And with our sizzling temps, I bet that lake is warmer than normal. Something worth knowing should you decide to follow up tonight’s tequila shooters with a skinny dip. 🙂
Thanks for the shout out and Max asked that I tell you the same. His head’s already beginning to swell with pride. He may be impossible to live with by nightfall.
Happy Canada Day and have a great remainder to your holiday!

Thanks John! The lake is rather warm but a little too crowded for a ‘fatty dip’ as we call it!!! We haven’t gotten onto the tequila…yet! Oh dear, didn’t mean to make your pal impossible to live with.
