Wednesday August 15 would have been Julia Child‘s 100th birthday. My friend Betsy over at Bits and Breadcrumbs made a wonderful suggestion and I’m ALL OVER IT! I strongly recommend you pop over to see her and find out how we can all participate and celebrate Julia Child’s birthday.
Looking forward to seeing how you celebrate Julia’s day.
An after thought: please be aware of copyrights on recipes; I’ve noticed that Dorie Greenspan recipes ate not reproduced on line! Just sayin’.
August 15 is Wednesday, not Tuesday!

Hi Eva, I don’t know much about Julia Childs – I think she’s very much a north American institution, but I did watch Julie and Julia recently which was a lot of fun! Will be checking out Betsy’s post in a moment.

Ah yes, she was quite huge in North America. The movie was a lot of fun. I hope you can participate!

Thanks so much Maureen, I am very flattered. I really enjoy Betsy’s blog too, her recipes are comforting and I love the way she gives us little jaunts around Atlanta.

I think all home cooks have a little Julia in them. I won’t be participating but look forward to seeing all the creations!

You are right, of course Genie. What would you have made?

Hmmmm…something classically French I think. Maybe an apple tarte tartin or a fillet of sole with lemon cream sauce. Oh boy, I’m salivating now.

It sounds like an excellent idea. I have Julia Child’s book and have never cooked from it, but her accuracy and passion are impressive. Such a pity she is no longer there and cookery books are rarely good now, not to mention comparable to hers in terms of quality.

My pleasure Betsy, it will be such fun! We’ll have to watch copyrights on recipes, though.

Yes, I am not going to post her recipes, just show the cooked items and direct people towards her books. Plus there are plenty of ways to search for a recipe of hers online as well. 😉

Yes, I saw Betsy’s post (probably while you were sleeping!) She made a great dessert. Didn’t it look wonderful. And she’s come up with such a great idea. I think I’ll have to participate. Can’t wait to see what you come up with Eva. And as an aside, thanks so much for all the lovely comments you put on my blog. They always lift me up. And you are right – that coach is such a jerk. He’s a foreigner and not quite doing things the Australian way! xx

Thanks Charlie, I’ve got an amazing recipe from Baking with Julia! By Dori Greenspan, we just have to watch copyrights to the recipes!
That is NO COACH, by definition, that is. Good thing Alfie has such a supportive family, I feel bad for the kids that don’t.
It is absolutely my pleasure to comment on your lovely blog, I feel as though I have a friend 7,000 miles away!
