This is a perfect recipe to show case the gorgeous gold sea salt that Barb (Profiteroles and Ponytales) so generously gave me at Christmas. Admittedly, this recipe is more appropriate for Christmas but what the hay…you get it now. On the plus side, it’ll give you enough time to source gold sea salt! Now this sea salt isn’t just brown made to look like gold, it actually looks like the real McCoy (probably not real gold, though but it’s just as pretty)! I would have liked to pry the top off and get the actual larger chunks but it seems it was glued on so I was out of luck. I can see this gorgeous sea salt on so much more so you’ll likely be reading about it again.
Peanut Butter Chocolate Bark with Gold Sea Salt
A KitchenInspirations Original Recipe
Ingredients:
- 285 g semisweet chocolate
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/3 cup chunky peanut butter (just peanuts, no salt, no sugar)
- 2 tbsp icing sugar
- gold sea salt
Directions:
- Slowly melt the chocolate in a double boiler or bain marie, stir in the cinnamon and mix well. Meanwhile, mix the chunky peanut butter and icing sugar well.
- Spread the melted chocolate onto a silicon lined baking sheet to about 3-5 mm (just less than 1/4″). Dot the peanut butter onto the melted chocolate and swirl with the blade of a very thin knife. Sprinkle with gold sea salt. Refrigerate until hard and then break into bite-sized portions.
Notes:
- Melting chocolate should always be done very slowly and never over boiling water.
- I used a natural peanut butter because that is what we have, if you use peanut butter with added sugar and salt, you will need to modify the recipe.

Eva, I’m sorry to come here after Easter because this is THE Easter recipe for me! (Here and in France chocolate is the main Easter “dish” 😉 ). The bark looks so delicious… and I must get hold of this salt one day. It looks and sounds extraordinary!

I will have to save this tasty treat for our Easter celebrations next year too. Chocolate is a big deal among the children in North America.

Christmas? Isn’t chocolate popular at Easter north of the border? I hope it is or I may have to consider moving elsewhere in November.
This bark sounds very good, Eva, no matter when it’s prepared and served. Gold salt, for me, is an entirely new item. Now I have to find some. Some look for Easter eggs. I search for salt. Speaking of which, I hope you and JT share a wonderful Easter, Eva.

Chocolate is indeed popular at Easter so please feel free to move up here in November, I don’t do much baking around this time so I likened this treat to Christmas when I do quite a bit of baking! I hope you have a wonderful Easter too John.

Oh goodness, look at those peanut swirls… bien réussi! Clearly, I don’t make bark nearly enough because this is an underexplored variation that needs to happen stat over here ;o). I do appreciate a little hit of salt with my dark choco so this one is ringing all my bells Eva. Great gift Barb, x.

Thank you so much, Kelly. The dark chocolate and pinch of gold salt just elevated this childhood treat to another level for certain. I cannot stomach the other type of PB anymore, it just doesn’t taste like PB.

Chocolate? Peanut butter? Combined in bark? Heck, just as appropriate at Easter as at Christmas, I say. Not to mention any other day of the year. 🙂 Thanks for introducing us to gold sea salt — looks SO interesting!

Thank you John, I don’t do much baking around Easter but I do at Christmas. The gold sea salt sure is pretty on these tasty treats.

I’m back in Los Angeles from Nicaragua and heading to Florida tomorrow. I’m spending my one morning home to catch up on my favorite blogs. I’m glad I did as I am so intrigued by this salt. I’ve tried pink and black and grey (on of course white). But brown or gold? I must explore this as soon as I return. GREG

The bark looks very elegant. I’ve wanted to use gold/silver leaf in my Indian cooking but I’ve never HEARD of gold salt.
When all the fine salt shakes out, will you have to pry off the top and get the bigger chunks? 🙂

Hi Maria, the bottle is actually a grinder, so it pulverizes the large chunks. I will eventually pry off the lid anyway because I think some things would look prettier with the larger chunks.

Lovely confection! We also keep only natural peanut butter on hand that we make at the store grinding the nuts. I love the simplicity of this and while I don’t have gold sea salt, I may try it with another color. Won’t be as pretty, though. 🙂

Thank you kindly Betsy, the gold sea salt sure adds a lovely touch. I cannot stomach the other kind of PB anymore (not that I loved it, ever), it is too sweet and salty. The freshly ground always tastes better and like real peanuts!

No baking, my kind of recipe, not to mention impressive with few ingredients and so easy to make, on the look out for gold sea salt.
